It’s important to know where your traffic is coming from and the demographics of your audience. This will allow you to customize your messaging so that you can provide the best affiliate product recommendations. You shouldn’t just focus on the vertical you’re in, but on the traffic sources and audience that’s visiting your site. Traffic sources may include organic, paid, social media, referral, display, email, or direct traffic. You can view traffic source data in Google Analytics to view things such as time on page, bounce rate, geo location, age, gender, time of day, devices (mobile vs. desktop), and more so that you can focus your effort on the highest converting traffic. This analytics data is crucial to making informed decisions, increasing your conversion rates, and making more affiliate sales.

Shifting the focus to the time span, we may need to measure some "Interim Metrics", which give us some insight during the journey itself, as well as we need to measure some "Final Metrics" at the end of the journey to inform use if the overall initiative was successful or not. This metric is a way of summarizing the conversion rate, average ticket price, and commission percentage. It does not take into account the click rate that an offer will receive. David, thanks for the comment. Without meaning to be nasty, the logic might be applied equally well to manufacturing. Since the jobs of marketing and sales are to sell the products we make, one might then say marketing and sales should report to manufacturing. Every organization and every person has to execute the company strategies and priorities. We need to recognize, we don’t exist alone, but are dependent on working with people in other functions. We are most effective when we coordinate and collaborate across functions.
And why not? Human beings have always enthralled themselves into one pursuit after another, all with a means to an end of improving our lives. Clearly, the conveniences afforded by the internet are quite literally earth-shattering to say the least. Three decades ago, few could have ever imagined the present state of our on-demand-everything society, with the ability to instantly communicate and conduct business in real-time, at a pace that often seems dizzying at the best of times.

3. I believe a commssion or variable comp plan is not inconsistent with a balanced perspective between long and short term programs. In the sales world, we have lots of sales that have very long sales cycles and very long fulfillment cycles. From an incentive program design point of view, there are a number of methods that can handle these scenarios. This way a balance between long and short term activities can be achieved as well as a balance on payment for results over time.


The publisher ad server then communicates with a supply-side platform server. The publisher is offering ad space for sale, so they are considered the supplier. If you value taking your time to make sure everything is right, you don’t want to partner with a company that cuts corners and focuses on producing quick campaigns. It will make it hard for your business to work with that Internet marketing company. First, the commission program must be cost neutral to current spending–at plan.  That is, what I’m spending for marketing people today, would be the same I would spend for them under a commission plan–at plan.  (That’s the way we design compensation program for sales people, let’s do the same with marketing.).  Presumably, we would take the current “budget” for marketing people and reallocate it, some level of fixed base pay and some level of variable–commission based pay.  If marketing achieved their goals, they would earn the full amount–base plus the commission.  If they failed to achieve their goals, they would receive base plus whatever commission they earned.  If they overachieved, they would earn more—perhaps with accelerators.  All of this is just like sales, except it would be funded out of the marketing budget, not sales.
You should also make sure you aren't competing with your own affiliates for eyeballs. Any marketing channels you're using, such as search engines, content sites or e-mail lists, should be off limits to your affiliates. Put marketing restrictions into your affiliate agreement and notify partners immediately. It's your program--you set the rules. Or, if you prefer, you can let your affiliates run the majority of your internet marketing.
When targeting your audience, diversification plays an important role in your marketing and advertising campaigns. Diversification means that you can use a variety of tactics and strategies in order to reach your prospects. With online marketing, diversification becomes a lot easier. In addition to that, it is possible for you to run varying marketing techniques simultaneously to better implement your marketing campaign.
Set realistic targets based on the organic increase you are expecting to see. For example, from the perspective of an affiliate who is already generating $100,000 in monthly volume, it might not be very enticing to be required to hit a 50% incremental increase versus the previous quarter. However, that same 50% increase might make more sense for a $1000 monthly affiliate (e.g. having to generate $1500).

I did this by dropping my web design/SEO clients and tried to make money with affiliate marketing (I write SEO/speed optimization tutorials). 90% of my affiliate income comes from SiteGround, a hosting company who awarded me affiliate of the month in July, 2017 when I made $9k in 1 month. Since then I have continued to hit numbers like this – the screenshot below is from March, 2018 when I made $14.5k in 1 month (just with SiteGround). I have other affiliates too.

China is one example where Affiliate Marketing does not overtly resemble the same model in the West. With many affiliates being paid a flat "Cost Per Day" with some networks offering Cost Per Click or CPM.
